There are four kinds of faucets.

A compression faucet relies on rubber washers to seal the valve seat which can wear out and need to be replaced.
That s why it s important to leave the faucet open as you turn the water back on.
With the other three types of faucets either the o ring or neoprene seal that s causing the leak needs to be replaced.
Early versions of ceramic disc faucets may be more fragile and can crack if subjected to a blast of pressurized air.
